Escola Lá Fora Estoril - Forest School

Preschool Cascais families can discover Escola Lá Fora Estoril, a Forest School programme offering outdoor learning in natural woodland and forest settings. The project serves children and families in Estoril, alongside locations in Lisbon, Almada and Ericeira.

Its Forest School approach centres on each child’s individuality and the value of free play. Regular nature-based sessions encourage observation, collaboration, exploration and discovery, while supporting children’s confidence, resilience, independence and creativity.

For children aged 3 to 6, Aprender Lá Fora provides full-time Forest School activities. The school also offers two-hour Explorar Lá Fora sessions for ages 3 to 12, Bebés Lá Fora sessions for ages 0 to 3, school partnerships, holiday support, Saturday morning activities for children up to age 8, and outdoor birthday parties.

Activities may include challenges such as using tools, building shelters and exploring natural spaces. Escola Lá Fora also uses mostly natural materials to promote autonomy, creativity and artistic techniques, while helping children build a relationship with nature, learn about biodiversity and respect the environment.
