KAPPO | Japanese Cuisine
Japanese restaurant Cascais KAPPO offers an intimate omakase experience in the centre of town, led by Chef Tiago Penão. The menu is shaped by the season, the availability of ingredients and precise Japanese technique, with Portuguese produce playing an important role.
Guests sit at a counter for just 12 people, where the team prepares the sequence in front of them. Omakase places the choice and pace of the menu in the chef’s hands, allowing each course to unfold gradually rather than being revealed in advance.
KAPPO takes its name from the Japanese expression for “cut and cook”, reflecting a careful approach to ingredients, heat, temperature and time. The restaurant combines Japanese tradition with a contemporary interpretation, in a setting designed around proximity between chef, team and guests.
The restaurant received a MICHELIN Star and a Repsol Guide Sun in 2026. Dinner is served Tuesday to Saturday in two sittings, and advance booking is recommended for this limited-seat experience.
