Boa Ventura Montessori Nursery School

Preschool Cascais families can find an English-speaking Montessori setting at Boa Ventura Montessori Nursery School in São Pedro do Estoril. Officially recognised by the Portuguese Ministry of Education and the local Council since 1995, the school welcomes children of all nationalities and ethnic backgrounds from ages 2 to 6.

Located on the ground floor of a detached house surrounded by a garden, Boa Ventura offers full-time and part-time attendance. Children learn in two small groups, Ladybirds and Rainbows, with no more than six children per qualified teacher, alongside class-teacher and assistant support.

The Montessori approach gives children freedom within a structured environment and supports development at an individual pace. Purpose-designed materials introduce sensory learning, phonetic reading, writing, number work, mathematics and geographical skills.

Practical-life activities also build sharing, participation, movement skills, colour and shape awareness, and pencil control. Weekly activities include garden play, art, crafts, nature study, music and movement, dance, drama, stories, cooking, computer activities and free play.

The school also arranges outings, provides Kindermusik lessons, and offers after-school activities, Easter School and Summer School.
