Nurture-AD (João Pedro Quaresma)

Architect Cascais Nurture-AD, led by João Pedro Quaresma, develops sustainable architecture and high-performance building projects from Alcoitão, Alcabideche. The practice works across Cascais, Lisbon and Portugal, combining architectural design with bioclimatic strategies, efficient resource use and healthy built-environment principles.

Its services include Passive House design consultancy, architecture design, retrofit and rehabilitation design, and green urban planning. Nurture-AD also focuses on nearly zero-energy building (nZEB) standards, supporting projects designed to reduce energy demand while prioritising comfort, air quality and efficient performance.

The studio describes its approach as smart architecture: bringing together client needs, technology and efficient design. Retrofit and rehabilitation work aims to give new life to older buildings, with attention to thermal and energy rehabilitation, comfort and health.

Nurture-AD is led by a Certified Passive House Designer and has contributed to the successful certification of three Passive Houses in Portugal. Its reference work includes Passive House projects in Cascais, Parede, Sintra, Mafra and Vilamoura, alongside ongoing projects in central Cascais.

The practice is based at Estoril Office on Avenida República in Alcoitão.
